 overcoming stigma

 >

Its all a bit weird, these things can be scary for people. We were on our local munch and we always get people who are very nervous about coming to their first munch, but its just like going to the pub and hanging out with your friends, except these friends might want to talk about certain things. Though not neccerssairly, you know, we’ll talk about the weather, and well, some people talk about cricket, not me (laughs). And so we meet them early and we kind of guide them through the experience and when they go 'what do we do next? ' we always say go to your local fetish market , its like this, you get to look at things, touch things, try things, you’ll get to know people and you’d never know what comes of it and its not scary now, you know. Our goal is to be normal people that do this thing , your not abnormal for doing this and don’t have to then spend your days dressed in leather and you know , wearing vinyl and doing all those things. Your just people all the time who just have this particular interest. And so to let people know that its ok , your not a weirdo, your not strange , your just one of this group and so come down and meet this group. ( Jo, buyer)
